Installation Instructions

Watch the video on Youtube.com for the latest installation instructions for Galvanized outer tank and frame, stainless steel inner tank

100 litre Low pressure Evacuated Tube Solar Geyser - Stainless steel frames and outer tank

Safety Precautions  It is recommended that gloves are worn when assembling the stand as the stainless steel components have sharp edges.

The stand consists of 12 straight metal pieces, 2 curved tank mounts, 4 base plates nuts and bolts.

Make the frame up - it will look like this  :

When the stand is completely assembled, it is time to connect the tubes to the main tank.

ENSURE THAT THE STAND IS SECURELY FASTENED TO THE ROOF

The 18 tube 100 litre system is open vented (operates under gravity pressure) and therefore has limited leak paths.

The connections to the tank are all 15mm or 20 mm tapered plumbing fittings.

The glass tubes are connected directly to the tank through double-lipped silicon seals.

NOTE – KEEP THE HEAT PIPES IN THE BOX UNTIL YOU NEED THEM, AS THEY ABSORB HEAT FAST WHICH MAY PREVENT THE HEAT PIPE FROM ENTERING THE MANIFOLD

Place rubber cap on end of Vacuum tube

Apply Heat Paste to Top of heat Pipe

Apply Dishwashing mixture around the top of the Vacuum tube below the top of the Heat Pipe

Insert Vacuum tube into the Manifold hole

Tighten Clip around rubber cap – DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN

Inspect the Vacuum tube to see that it is still silver and that the vacuum is intact.

1.      Check that the tank has a white silicon seal inside the hole for the vacuum tube.

1.      Place the black rubber seal ring on top end of Vacuum tube about 15 cm from the top of the tube.

Apply Dishwashing mixture around the top of the Vacuum tube below the top of the Heat Pipe. This allows the glass tube to slide into the rubber holder easily.

Insert the Vacuum tube into the tank until it is touching the White silicon seal.  Slowly rotate the vacuum tube whilst pushing it up into the tank. It only needs to go in as far as allowing the bottom to clear the white base plate.

When the bottom of the vacuum tube is fully inserted into the tank and clears the base plate, pull it slowly down into the base plate, taking care not to bump the glass end.

Move the black rubber seal to top of vacuum tube. The first tube is now correctly installed.

Continue until sufficient tubes have been added to complete the geyser.  It will look like this:

To replace a tube.

1.      Pull the black rubber seal 15cm down the vacuum tube.

2.      Rotate the vacuum tube, while pushing it further into the tank.

3.      When the bottom of the vacuum tube is clear of the white base plate, pull the vacuum tube out of the tank.

4.      Check that the seal is undamaged – no scratches or cuts in it. If you run your finger around it, it should feel smooth.

5.      Replace tube from steps 1 to 8.
